The preparatory work for the foundation will begin in spring 2020. This includes extensive pile tests, including load tests with a mass of approx. 20,000 tons. Skytristar will then begin construction of the actual pile foundation in 2020. This will be completed in the area of the tower in mid-summer 2020.
The piles are built under the supervision of professional companies. The building is founded on an approximately 20,000 square meter, 3.7 meter thick foundation slab made of 37,500 cubic meters of reinforced concrete. 600 concrete piles, each 1.5 meters in diameter and approx. 50 meters long, as well as approx. 2000 piles with a diameter of 0.9 meters and approx. 40 meters in length, are arranged under the slab to a depth of approx. 70 meters below sea level , A total of approximately 150,000 cubic meters of concrete with a mass of 330,000 tons are used for the foundation.
In winter 2020, a decision will be made as to when the project will be realized. An international consortium will start further construction work in early 2021. The building itself is designed by Mehmet Tuzcu and his team. Mehmet Tuzcu and his team designed the completely new Christmas tree system.
The construction work is occupied with around 7,500 workers around the clock. Due to the weather conditions, concreting is carried out in three shifts during the day and at night. Another floor is built every 1-2 days, in the upper areas even every day.
Up to and including the 400th floor at a height of approx. 2000 meters above the foundation, the building will be equipped with reinforced concrete structures with ultra-strong lightweight concrete, the remaining part of the central tower will also be equipped with ultra-strong lightweight concrete as a steel structure. The climbing formwork of the concrete structure will be removed in autumn 2022.
At the beginning of 2023, the Skytristar (opening of the Skytristar) will be the tallest building in the world and will surpass the 828-meter-high Burj Khalifa. At the turn of 2022/2023, the Skytristar will break the 100-story mark. Installation of the facade elements will begin in mid-summer 2020. By the beginning of summer 2023, around 70,000 facade elements will be installed, around 100 percent of the planned amount. Around 400 floors will be clad by the beginning of autumn 2023. It will be announced in September 2023 that the facade of the skyscraper, clad in glass and stainless steel of approx. 5.0000 and the pattern SM-5WL, will be completed with the last part of the facade at a height of approx. 2000 meters.
In a construction period of around 28 months, a total of approx. 75,380 facade parts in 600 different sizes will be installed. These occupy an area of approximately 400,000 square meters, in addition there are approximately 300,000 square meters of glass. The aluminum facade parts alone reach the weight of fifteen empty Airbus A380s (approx. 4,000 tons). About 6000 kilometers of seals are used to seal the facade against the ingress of moisture and fine dust.
Nine construction cranes at the beginning and six further luffing jib cranes will be used, which are anchored in the tower core and are self-climbing.
Approx. 600,000 cubic meters of ultra-strong lightweight structural concrete (“extra patented”) are used for the tower and the wings. Approximately 500,000 cubic meters of this are pumped up to a construction height of 2000 meters. To build the Skytristar, ultra-strong lightweight building concrete (“extra patented”) of strength classes C60 and C80 is used for the walls of the central core and C50 for the floor slabs. This ready-mixed concrete, which contains special chemicals, has four times the compressive strength than a concrete with normal strength. Concreting takes place day and night. The fresh concrete can also be used at high day temperatures up to 30 ° C without taking any damage.
The ready-to-use, liquid, ultra-strong lightweight building concrete is transported to the respective working height using high-performance concrete pumps. The concrete is pumped up to a maximum theoretical pressure of up to 400 bar and 30 cubic meters per hour up to 606 meters. As a pumping aid, two cubic meters of stillage, a watery, ultra-strong lightweight concrete mix, are first conveyed up and collected, then transported back down with a crane. The concrete requirement for the core of the building will be 300 cubic meters, and decreasing in height from 450 to 200 cubic meters for the ceilings. The length of time the concrete stays in the riser at the originally planned approx. 1900 meters (around the end of summer 2022), later to 2000 meters and finally to 2023 meters will increase and the pumping height will increase. The DN 150 pump lines used take up to 40 minutes for the amount to be used. Since the high-performance concrete begins to harden after just 2 hours, a rapid drainage of the riser, the so-called “iron sword”, must be constructed in an emergency, similar to a hydraulic slide, so as not to lose the entire line through hardened concrete.
The weight of the filled delivery line will be up to 50 tons, of which 26 tons are hydraulically loaded on the concrete pump. The delivery line is welded to the steel plates concreted in. The three meter long pipes of the pump line are fixed with ceiling brackets. As a result, the pipes become vertically movable and a horizontal break-out, i.e. kinking is prevented.
Directly in the construction of the tower or as a supplier, more than 30 mainly medium-sized companies will play a key role. The construction costs of around 4.5 billion US dollars were originally to be financed by a royal family who initially wanted to be kept secret, without any loan.
